How to export your chat
On iPhone
- 1.Open the chat in WhatsApp
- 2.Tap the contact or group name at the top
- 3.Scroll down and tap "Export Chat"
- 4.Choose "Without media" for a TXT file
- 5.Share it to yourself via Files, Notes, or email
On Android
- 1.Open the chat in WhatsApp
- 2.Tap the three-dot menu ⋮ in the top right
- 3.Tap "More" → "Export chat"
- 4.Choose "Without media" for a TXT file
- 5.Save it to your device or send via email
No. Your file is parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is ever uploaded anywhere. Your messages stay on your device.
Export "Without media" to get a .txt file. The tool supports both .txt and .zip exports. If you export with media, upload the .zip and the tool will find the chat file inside it.
After downloading the HTML file, open it in your browser and press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac). Choose "Save as PDF" as the destination. The gift-book theme is especially good for printing.
